Bamboo and Golden Cane Palm Removal at a Smithfield Childcare

A childcare centre in Smithfield needed the removal of bamboo and golden cane palms from the garden beds along the timber fence line. The plants had become a safety and visual obstruction. The bamboo clump and the mature golden cane palms had spread through the mulched beds beside the timber benches and paved path.

The client wanted the roots and everything dug out. Not just cut back. That meant getting the machine in.

We brought an excavator in and dug the bamboo and palms out root and all. Doing it this way stops the bamboo coming back through, which is the whole point of pulling the roots rather than trimming the tops. We worked along the fence corner where the golden cane clump sat under the blue shade sail.

Once the plants were out, we cleared the beds back to bare sandy soil. The timber benches and the paved paths that had been crowded by the growth were exposed again. We ran the job on a Saturday so the play area was clear of kids while the machine was on site.

The scattered plant debris got pulled out with it, leaving the ground along the fence open and easy to see across. The corner that had the bamboo and palm clump is now clear soil with a single timber bench sitting in it.

Removing established bamboo is not a job for a shovel and a bit of hope. The roots run deep and wide, and if you leave any of it the bamboo finds its way back up. The excavator let us lift the lot in one go.
