1. Clear What Is There
Old grass, weeds and debris come out first. Laying new turf over an old lawn is the most common DIY mistake we see, and it is why so many new lawns fail within a season.
2. Sort the Levels and Drainage
Cairns rain finds every low spot. We grade the yard so water sheds away from the house and does not pond on the lawn, because even wet-tolerant varieties hate sitting in a puddle for weeks.
3. Build the Base
A clean, screeded base gives roots somewhere to go and gives you a flat lawn to mow. This step is most of the labour in a proper install, and it is the difference you can see from the street.
4. Lay Fresh, Same Day
Turf is a living product. We schedule installs so the turf is laid the same day it arrives from the farm, then rolled and watered in immediately.
5. Establishment
The first few weeks decide the next few years. We leave every client with straightforward watering and first-mow guidance for their specific variety, whether that is Sir Walter buffalo, a zoysia or one of the other Cairns turf varieties.
