Project Brief

This garden clean in Mount Sheridan started with a property that had grown well out of hand. Weeds, gingers, yuccas and self-seeded trees had crowded the paved paths, the garden beds and the fence lines. An old galvanised steel shed sat in the rear yard. The client wanted the lot cleared and the property made as low maintenance as possible, so ongoing upkeep would be easy.

We worked through it in order. First the overgrowth. The weeds, gingers and yuccas came out from along the green Colorbond fence and the weathered timber fence. Several trees were cut back and removed, with the cut stumps left along the fence lines. That opened the yard up.

Next the shed. We pulled the old steel shed down and took it away, leaving just the bare concrete slab in the rear yard.

With the plants and shed gone, the brick and paver paths came back into view. We cleared and exposed the paths that run alongside the house and past the croton shrubs. The sloped, terraced garden beds with their block edging were tidied and the grass cut back. The corner of the house near the columns, where the potted plants sit, was cleared out too.

It was a big job. The team and I spent numerous hours on the property, with four loads of green and demolition waste taken to the dump. If you have a fence line that needs the same treatment, this garden removal along a fence line in Brinsmead is a similar job. The last load went out and every corner had come clear.
