Case Study
Fence and Retaining Wall Pressure Cleaning in Redlynch
Photographed on site — Redlynch, September 2026
Transformation
Weathered grey timber cleaned back to a lighter, brighter finish along the side path.
Project Brief
One of our regular clients in Redlynch wanted to spruce up the side pathway of their house. They asked us to pressure clean the timber paling fence and the timber sleeper retaining wall running along it.
The path is narrow. It's set out with white gravel and dark stepping pavers, with a garden bed of tropical plants along the retaining wall. When we arrived, the paling fence had gone a weathered grey and the sleepers had a dark, dull look to them. Years of build-up does that to timber.
We worked our way along the pathway with the pressure cleaner. The retaining wall is made of stained timber sleepers with round timber posts, so we cleaned those first. Then we moved onto the paling fence.
The fence was where the difference showed most. As we cleaned, the lighter timber tone came back through the grey. Same fence, just clean.
We worked around the garden bed and the wall-mounted air conditioner unit so nothing got knocked about. On a tight side path you have to be careful where the spray goes. We kept the gravel and pavers tidy as we went.
It's straightforward work, but it makes a difference to a spot the client walks past every day. If you've got other outdoor areas that need a clean, we did a similar job pressure cleaning a driveway, side slab and patio in Whitfield.
By the end the timber sat lighter in the sun and matched the rest of the garden again.

The Result
The fence came up a lighter, brighter timber tone where it had gone grey, and the retaining wall sleepers looked cleaner alongside it. The side pathway sits brighter in the sun, with the timber matching the garden bed and gravel again.
