Project Brief

The backyard on this turf install in Mount Sheridan was overgrown with weeds and old landscaping. It sat right beside the pool and glass fencing, so it needed sorting properly. The client wanted a clean lawn that would hold up long-term.

We started by clearing out the weeds, old grass, rocks and pavers, along with the tired landscaping around the edges. That work exposed bare red earth across the yard. Once it was cleared, we levelled and smoothed the area off.

Getting the fall right was the important part. We spread a layer of quality topsoil and graded it so water runs away from the pool and the house. That means rain won't pool up against either of them down the track.

With the base graded, we laid rolls of Sir Walter buffalo turf across the yard. We rolled it in to bed it down, then watered it in and gave it a fertilise. The turf went down in neat strips along the timber fence and around toward the glass pool fencing.

The banana palms and garden beds stayed put in the background, so the lawn ties in with the existing tropical planting. It's straightforward work, but it makes a real difference to a yard like this.

We did a similar job over at a Yorkeys Knob turf install, and the same approach applies. Get the levels and the fall right first, then lay good turf on top. We've also done plenty of garden clean-ups around Mount Sheridan if a yard needs tidying before anything else.

By the end the yard had a fresh buffalo lawn laid corner to corner, watered in and ready to take root.
