Childcare Car Park Pressure Cleaning in Freshwater

A childcare centre in Freshwater asked us in to pressure clean their car park and the footpaths around it. The exposed-aggregate concrete had built up mould, grime and dirt over time. It had become slippery underfoot and was starting to be a trip hazard for the people using the site each day.

The early state of the concrete was easy to see. Dark staining ran across the parking bays, the driveway and the footpaths, with mould discolouration and organic marks through it. That kind of build-up is what makes a surface slick, especially once it gets damp.

We set up our pressure equipment on site and worked through the whole area with the cleaning lance. The washer lifts the grime off the concrete as you go, so the lighter surface comes back through underneath. We worked across the parking bays, the disabled bay near the building entry, the driveway and the footpaths along the timber-clad building and the fence lines.

The surfaces got a proper going over. As we moved through, the darker patches came up cleaner and the aggregate showed through again. You could see the difference bay by bay against the parts we hadn't reached yet.

Once the cleaning was done we removed the dirt and debris that had washed loose. Then we let the concrete dry off. The later parts of the job show the wet cleaned patches drying down to a lighter, even finish across the bays and paths.

It is straightforward work, but on a site like this it matters. The mould and grime were the reason the surface had turned slippery, so taking them off is what brings the slip and trip risk down.
